When we set out to create Menai Oyster Gin, we knew it had to be something truly unique – a gin that captured the spirit of Anglesey’s rugged coastline and the timeless waters of the Menai Strait. The result is a handcrafted gin that not only celebrates local ingredients but also honours one of our island’s most iconic delicacies – the Menai oyster.

A Collaboration Rooted in Provenance

Menai Oyster Gin was born from a unique partnership with Shaun Krijnen of the Menai Oyster Company, who has been cultivating oysters in the Strait for over 30 years. Working closely with Shaun, we source oysters that are considered “ugly” or unsuitable for commercial restaurant sales. While they may not be pretty enough for the plate, they are full of the same incredible flavour and character – making them perfect for distilling. This collaboration ensures that nothing goes to waste and every bottle of Menai Oyster Gin is infused with genuine Menai heritage.

Infused with Menai oysters and distilled alongside carefully chosen botanicals, this gin delivers a subtle brininess and mineral depth that balance beautifully with crisp citrus and herbal notes. The result is a gin that evokes sea spray, coastal air, and the untamed character of Ynys Môn.
