Why choose our Rum Cask Programme?

Rum made from scratch

Fermented and distilled entirely in-house for full provenance and character.

Bonded maturation

Matured under bond in our HMRC-approved warehouse on Anglesey.

Coastal influence

Maritime conditions subtly shape the spirit as it interacts with oak.

Flexible timelines

Rum can be bottled earlier or left longer — you decide what “ready” means.

Our Rum

Our rum is distilled in small batches on Anglesey using a hands-on approach that prioritises flavour, texture, and authenticity. Each cask develops its own personality depending on wood type, time in cask, and the interaction between spirit and environment.

From brighter, oak-forward styles to richer, more developed profiles, a private cask allows you to shape a rum that is entirely your own.

The Distillery

Our distillery and bonded warehouse are based on the Isle of Anglesey, off the north-west coast of Wales. The coastal setting brings clean air, gentle temperature variation, and a strong maritime character that subtly influences cask maturation over time.

As a small, independent Welsh distillery, we release only a limited number of private rum casks each year, ensuring every cask receives proper care and attention throughout its journey.

Maturation & Your Options

Each rum cask includes three years of maturation under bond. As your cask approaches its third anniversary, we will contact you to discuss the next stage of its journey.

At that point, you have three clear options:

1. Bottle your rum

Bottle at your chosen strength and presentation. We’ll provide a clear quotation covering bottling, duty, and VAT before you proceed.

2. Mature for longer

Continue maturation to further develop depth and complexity. Ongoing storage and insurance can be arranged on an annual basis.

3. Pass on ownership

Transfer ownership to another party, subject to HMRC requirements.

Whatever you decide, we’ll guide you through the process and ensure everything is handled correctly and transparently.

We’ll always contact you well in advance of key milestones — nothing happens without your approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I own the cask?

Yes. You own the cask outright. Ownership documentation is provided, and your cask is stored under bond in our HMRC-approved warehouse until you decide what to do next.

Is there a minimum ageing period for rum?

Unlike whisky, rum does not have a legally required minimum ageing period. This gives you flexibility to bottle earlier or continue maturing for longer depending on the style you are aiming for.

What happens at the three-year point?

Each rum cask includes three years of bonded storage and insurance. As your cask approaches this point, we will contact you to discuss your options: bottling your rum, continuing maturation, or transferring ownership.

Are storage and insurance included?

Yes. The cask price includes three years of bonded storage and insurance. If you choose to mature your rum beyond this period, ongoing storage and insurance can be arranged annually.

Can I bottle at cask strength or choose a different ABV?

Yes. When you choose to bottle, we will guide you through bottling strength options, including cask strength or dilution to your preferred ABV, subject to legal requirements.

What additional costs are payable at bottling?

Duty, VAT, bottling, and packaging costs are payable at the point of bottling and depend on final strength and bottle yield. We provide a clear quotation before you proceed.

Can I sell or transfer my cask?

Yes. Ownership of your rum cask can be transferred to another party, subject to HMRC requirements. We can guide you through the process to ensure everything is handled correctly.

Can I visit my cask?

Yes — visits can be arranged by appointment. We’re happy to show you the distillery and warehouse and discuss how your rum is developing.
